
THE OLD TESTAMENT
There are thirty-nine books in the old testament, and they are grouped under four division:-
I- The Pentateuch or five books of Moses.
II- Historical books twelve in number from Jushua to Esther.
III-Poetical books five number from Job to Song of Solomon.
IV-The Prophet, including the Major Prophet, five in numbers from Isiah to Daniel, and the twelve Minor Prophet from Hosea to Malachi.
I- The Pentateuch
The name Pentateuch comes from the Greek, and means the five volume entire work of Moses.
The Pentateuch is referred to by Christ and His apostle as the work of Moses.

Genesis:- The word Genesis signifies generation or origin, and is the title give to the first book of the Bible.
It matter the history of Israel from the creation until the death of Joseph. In the introductory chapter it gives the history of the creation of the earth and man kind down to the dispersion of Noah's descendant over the word. In this book is include the lives of the great Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the story of Joseph in Egypt.
